About Richard

Richard Dysinger has called Sunset Beach a part of his life for more than four decades. His family has owned property here since 1991, but his connection goes back even further — he vacationed along our coast in the 1980s and was married on the beach in 1984. Sunset Beach isn’t just where he lives; it’s where his story and his family’s story are rooted.
 

In 2022, Richard was appointed to the Sunset Beach Planning Board, where he quickly became a thoughtful and effective voice for the community. He is especially proud of the progress made during his time on the Board, including:
 

• Rewriting the Uniform Development Ordinance

• Strengthening tree abatement regulations

• Enhancing open space requirements

• Helping create the Conditional Zoning process to ensure development is carefully reviewed and negotiated
   

Beyond civic service, Richard brings a wide-ranging professional background. He began his career as a musician and touring audio engineer before moving into business development leadership roles. This blend of creativity, problem-solving, and negotiation skills has shaped his approach to public service: collaborative, detail-oriented, and always grounded in the best interests of the community.
 

Today, Richard is committed to preserving what makes Sunset Beach unique while planning responsibly for the future. His lifelong ties to the area, combined with his proven leadership on the Planning Board, give him both the perspective and the experience to serve effectively on Town Council.
